Kurrajong Pods are natural biotope materials with a moderate tannin release profile. Suitable for freshwater aquariums and humid terrarium systems, they provide both functional and aesthetic value. They are especially ideal for setups aiming to recreate natural forest floor textures and blackwater characteristics.

Aquarium Use

The organic compounds and tannins naturally present in Kurrajong Pods are gradually released into the water, contributing to the biochemical balance of the system. With a medium tannin output, they:

• Create a soft amber tint typical of natural habitats
• Support gradual pH reduction
• Help maintain low-conductivity, soft water conditions
• Provide a stress-reducing natural environment for tropical fish and invertebrates

Their textured surface promotes biofilm formation. This biofilm layer can serve as a natural grazing source for shrimp species, bottom-dwelling fish, and fry.

Kurrajong Pods maintain their structural integrity underwater for an extended period. Over time, the fibrous structure gradually softens and decomposes in a controlled manner, integrating into the biological cycle and supporting microbial activity within the system.

Terrarium & Paludarium Use

In humid tropical terrariums, Kurrajong Pods function as both decorative substrate elements and biologically active natural components:
